Our aim is to provide a competitive and efficient service to introduce families in need of child care solutions to suitable candidates who will fit in with all your requirements.
We have a data base of nannies and mothers' helps throughout the Midlands. We meet and interview all our nannies face to face, we check their references and qualifications, and ensure that they have an up to date Criminal Records Bureau Check.
There is no fee to register your vacancy with us. We charge a 'one off' introduction fee on agreement of employment, as per our price list, which is payable prior to commencement of employment. Invoices outstanding after fourteen days will be charged 2% interest per month.
First Choice Nanny Agency does not employ the nanny. The client is the employer and is responsible for all PAYE and NIC contributions. We can supply details of agencies (Nanny Paye and Nanny Tax) who will help you with this, or we can give you the necessary information if you wish to calculate these deductions yourself.
We recommend all families have a signed employment contract with their nanny, to list their duties and avoid any confusion. We can supply a sample contract, which can be used as a basis of terms and conditions, including hours, holidays, pay, notice period etc. Nannies will normally expect to do everything for your children, including preparing meals, keeping their playroom and bedroom tidy, and looking after their clothes and toys. They are there for the children, not as a housekeeper or cleaner. This is often a source of conflict and duties should be specified at the start of the employment.
We strongly recommend that, before the nannies commence employment, they spend some time with the family to get to know each other, and to understand their role and everything that is expected of them.
If there are any initial problems at the commencement of the employment, we will endeavour to act as a negotiator to try to iron out any conflicts or misunderstandings. If the placement is not satisfactory for any reason within the first month of employment, we will make every effort to replace the nanny at no additional charge. If we are still unable to resolve the situation, we offer a 50% refund of any fees paid. We will not offer replacements or help resolve matters if our fees have not been paid in full.
First Choice Nanny Agency will use its best endeavours to thoroughly check identity and credentials of all candidates offered for employment. We recommend that parents make their own reference checks and speak to previous employers where possible. Although we try to ensure their information is accurate, we make no warranty or guarantee as to the suitability of any candidate. We accept no liability whatsoever for any loss, damage, costs, claims or expenses made against, or suffered by the client, arising in any way from the introduction or employment.

These terms and conditions are between First Choice Nanny Agency Ltd and the client. No variation of these terms will be deemed valid unless confirmed in writing by First Choice Nanny Agency Ltd. Filling in and submitting the registration form constitutes an acceptance of the following terms and conditions. Please also read our information sheet and check list for au pair placements.
First Choice Nanny Agency Ltd will use all possible means of finding a suitable Au Pair for the client with respect to details supplied in the registration form. However, First Choice Nanny Agency cannot accept any liability regarding the lack of suitability of the Au Pair for the client. It is the client’s responsibility to ensure they are satisfied as to the suitability of the Au Pair. The client must also realise that an Au Pair is not a trained or qualified nanny.
First Choice Nanny Agency Ltd charge an introduction fee for finding an au pair. The fee is £200 for an au pair staying for a three month placement, and £300 for a placement of up to one year. The full fee must be paid by the client at the time of verbal acceptance of the Au Pair. A verbal acceptance of the au pair is binding.
A four week satisfaction guarantee will be given, meaning that if the Au pair or client terminates the agreement within a four week period from the date of employment then First Choice Nanny Agency will make every effort to find a suitable replacement with no additional charge. The reason for dissatisfaction must be provided by the client within this four week period. If no suitable replacement can be found then a full refund will be given minus a £75 administration fee. First Choice Nanny Agency Ltd reserves the right not to replace the Au pair if they feel the reason for dismissal is grossly unfair and no refund will be given. No refund will be given if a replacement is refused.
Two week’s notice will be required by either the client or the Au pair for termination of an agreement. The fees charged by First Choice Nanny Agency Ltd. are introduction fees. First Choice Nanny Agency Ltd. will not guarantee that an Au pair will stay for the full duration. It is up to the client and the Au pair to ensure a satisfactory placement through good communication.
The client must realise that the Au Pair programme is a cultural exchange programme and not a contract of work. The Au Pair must be welcomed and treated at all times as a member of the family.
If the client introduces an Au Pair introduced by the Agency to another individual or firm resulting in the engagement by that individual or firm of the Au Pair, then the client understands that they will be subject to an introduction fee if it is within six months of the Au Pair being introduced to the client.
First Choice Nanny Agency Ltd. will not accept responsibility for the conduct of the Au pair nor will it be held liable for any loss, damage, claim or injury however caused as a consequence of the introduction of the Au pair to the client. The clients’ own insurance should sufficiently cover any such situation. Under no circumstances should the Au pair or their family be held responsible for the cost of any damage including damage to a car for which the Au pair was given permission to drive by the client.
If First Choice Nannies finds that at any time a family has acted in a seriously detrimental manner they reserve the right not to provide a replacement au pair. First Choice Nanny Agency Ltd. considers serious malpractices to include cases where, in its judgment, there has been: a failure to pay the amount of pocket money agreed or to provide a separate room & reasonable standard of accommodation for the au pair; unreasonable duties or hours of work; a failure to provide adequate food; physical or verbal abuse of the au pair; a lack of consideration or respect for the au pair as a person; a hostile home environment, or sexual harassment of the au pair.
A replacement au pair may also be refused in cases where important information which has affected the placement has been withheld or concealed by the host family or if a family has made false, unsubstantiated or malicious accusations against an au pair or deliberately sought to undermine or harm the reputation of an au pair, without just cause, or to damage the reputation of the Agency. We may also refuse to replace an au pair if, prior to their leaving the family, we have tried to speak to the au pair about the reasons for his/her departure but have not been permitted to do so, or if an au pair gives an account of the family which gives rise to serious concerns about the family's suitability. In all such cases no refund will be given.
